When you create your website, it will be assigned a temporary subdomain. You can use this temporary subdomain to publish and access your live site.
A domain name is the address used to visit a website (e.g., blissfulbubbles.com). It serves as a custom name to replace your temporary subdomain. You can map as many domain names to your site as you like.
Configure your domain name
First, visit a domain name provider (e.g., eNom, GoDaddy, 123Reg) and purchase a domain name.
After purchasing the domain name, you will gain access to edit its settings.
Each provider may use different terms, but look for options such as DNS settings, Host records, or DNS records.
Now, you need to add 2 DNS records:
- If you want to map the WWW subdomain to your website (e.g., www.mydomain.com), add a CNAME record. Set the host to 'www' and point it to the correct address. You can find this address under Main menu > Settings > Domain Mapping > Map a Domain.
- If you want to direct the naked domain to your website (e.g., mydomain.com), add an A record. Set the host to '@' and point it to the correct address, which can also be found under Main menu > Settings > Domain Mapping > Map a Domain.
Map the domain name to the site
After adding these records, go to Settings in the site builder.
Click on the Domain name option, and then click on Map a domain.
- Type the domain name into the Domain to map field
- Click on Test mapping
- Click on Map domain
