Bookings allows you to offer two types of services: appointments and events.
With an appointment, customers choose from the dates and times when you are available. They select a time slot and book that period of your time for a particular service.
With an event, you set the date, start time, duration and maximum number of attendees in advance. Customers can then book a place at the event.
This guide explains how to create an appointment. Appointments can take place in person or online.
Open Bookings
Open Bookings, then click the main menu in the top-left corner to display the side panel. Select Appointments.
Add a new service
- Select Services.
- Click Add a new service.
Services can be either public or unlisted. Customers can only access and book an unlisted service if you send them its direct link.
Choose the service type
Select Appointment.
This service type allows customers to view your availability and choose an available time slot from your calendar.
Add the service details
Enter the following information:
- Service name
- Description
- Image
- Duration
This information is required before you can create the service.
Add a customer information document
You can optionally upload a PDF containing information for your customers.
The booking confirmation email will include a button that the customer can use to download the document.
Choose how the service will be delivered
You can deliver your service in one of three ways:
- Online: The customer will receive a booking confirmation email containing a link to join the online session.
- Business location: Your business address will be shown during checkout and included in the confirmation email.
- Other: Enter your own delivery information. This will be shown during checkout and included in the confirmation email.
You will also receive a confirmation email whenever someone makes a booking. Booking details can also be viewed in your Bookings calendar.
Choose the service visibility
Your service can be Public or Unlisted.
Public services appear on the Services page of your website. Unlisted services do not appear on this page, but customers can still view and book them if you send them the direct service link.
Set the price
You must configure the payment settings before you can create the service.
You can offer the service for free or set a price and take payment when a customer books.
Add booking information
You can add any additional information that customers need to know about their appointment.
This information will be included in the booking confirmation email.
Configure the scheduling settings
Set how far in advance customers must make a booking. For example, requiring at least 24 hours’ notice can give you enough time to prepare for each appointment.
You can also add buffer time between appointments. This gives you time to rest, prepare or travel before meeting your next customer. The buffer will be taken into account when Bookings calculates your available time slots.
Save and publish the service
Save your changes when you have finished configuring the appointment.
If the service is public, it will appear on the Services page of your website and customers will be able to book an available time slot. If it is unlisted, customers will need the direct service link to access it.
