You can add a background image to any section of your site. These images will automatically adjust to the screen size, ensuring they always look good, regardless of the device being used to view the site. However, due to the adaptive nature of these background images, we recommend avoiding images with text if you expect the text to be readable on all devices.
The appearance button
Hover over the section where you want to add the background image. When the Appearance button appears to the left, click on it.
- Select the image option
- Click on Replace image
The greyed-out options (Overlay, Focal point, Scroll effects) will become active once you set a background image.

You can upload an image from your device, select one of your recent images, or choose from our stock images.
The image will be placed as the background of your section
Within the Appearance tab you will see the previously greyed-out options are now active:
- Overlay. It adds a layer of colour on top of your image
- Focal point. Tap on the area of the image you'd like to use as the focal point for the section background.
- Scroll effects. Apply effects to the image in the background. You can test it on preview or the live site.
Adjust the options above to give your section a unique touch.
